Were you thinking of trying the tightly curly method?

It has really worked for me and this is just for you to enjoy too :)

Tightly Curly Method Week 5: 27 Jan 2013 – 2 February 2013

Hey Ladies!!!!

Well, week 5, was pretty smooth, I didn’t struggle for detangling

and as you can see; my hair was still wet with “night 1″ on Sunday, I did my hair really late and I had to use my hooded set dryer; I hit the sack straight after that.

Maintainance: I barely mention this but for maintaining my hair i use conditioner and water only. most of my conditioner have plenty of oils already so my hair turns out shiny and healthy.

The front was not looking good at all; I decided to band it in the front so that it looks slick and new :)

Feedback: I had fun doing the Basics TC method, as from week 6, it is time to spice it up with “styling”/protective-styling.

lesson learnt: I cannot do my hair at night any longer, it makes me impatient, sleepy and confused (LOL).

If you have read the book, then you know that there is a section specifically on styling and the next 7 weeks will be dedicated to styling my “short” and “awkward length” hair and i can’t wait :)

Have you styled your hair with the TC method yet?

Tightly Curly Method Week 4: 20 Jan 2013 – 26 Jan 2013

Hi lovelies

This past week was really hectic for me.

I did my hair in the evening around 5 pm, I had so many things to do that my superficial needs had to come last (LOL)

Having said that, I couldn’t take good clear photos when my hair dried hence it was just so late and I didn’t have good lighting; because I fiddle with the settings of my camera lighting, I ended up with bad pictures quality for about two days (smh), so sorry about that, especially on day 3, I couldn’t take good pics, the settings were just horrible for my day time and the picture ended up looking like night time, shows you how good I am with camera and technology in general :)

This has been the easiest week by far, throughout this TC challenge. My hair was super quick to detangle and very easy to coil.My curl pattern seems to be changing(It has been 2 weeks that i am observing this); I have not used any heat in so many months but it seems to be getting looser as it grows from the roots, so maybe it is just my hair doing its own weird thing.

Feedback: As I am typing this article, I have not done my 5th week TC method, I got visitors. I will make sure I use my hooded head set dryer before I hit the sack, i did not do that last week and it was just horrible to sleep with hair!

This is what my hair looks like right now….and hopefully I get my hair sorted in the evening.

Ill be out for now and we will chat later :D

Happy Hair Journey ya’ll :)

Cholesterol 101

I got plenty of direct messages from twitter ever since I mentioned my cholesterol love and I promised to just write an article instead, so here you go :)

Let’s get to the point about this, yeah?

First, let us clear the confusion between protein and cholesterol; the major difference between the two:

Protein is for hair strength, especially when your hair feels weak and breaks a lot due to moisture overload, heat damage, and too much hair manipulation.  Cholesterol is for elasticity(bouncy, fluffy), hair porosity (how dry your hair is), meaning to put moisture back to your hair and give really good slip on to the hair unlike protein that can sometimes feel too stiff and needs you to re-enforce moisture to your hair.

So from now on, never get confused, yeah?

Quick similarities between cholesterol and protein:

Makes your hair shiny, strong, and thick. These are the reason people keep getting confused with the two treatments.

Is it OK to use both? Is it OK to have a 2in1 treatment conditioner of Protein and Cholesterol?

YES!!!! Having best of both world is not a bad thing, however, it will not guarantee that your hair strength(from the protein) is to the max that it should have gained from the treatment, and same applies to the cholesterol effect.

Can your hair benefit from eating foods that contain cholesterol?

Not at all. It will only cause heart failure; coronary heart disease will definitely be one of the first heart problems you will have. Rather opt for external hair treats :)

The quickest cholesterol hair treat is a hot oil treatment.

Quick Tip:

1. Apply oil all over damp hair

2. Cover with shower cap or clean plastic

3. Use your blow dryer on low heat to creative effective heat over the plastic cap.

*****if you are not in a hurry, just leave the cap on for 45 minutes to 1 hour and you will still have the same result!

Can you make homemade cholesterol treatments?

yes, depending on the ingredients you want to use, and also depends on what gives you “moisture back into your hair”. It could be oil? with a slice of avocado.

On the other hand, I make my own synthetic (not organic) cholesterol and I do not use kitchen ingredients I use industrial ingredients and my hair turns out just as good.

There are so many brands that sell cholesterol treatments, so all you have to do is search for the one that works for you.

Here are some of my ingredients I use (just to name a few):

propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol, vegetable glycerine, hydrolised collgen,quatemium-22, aloe vera, sheabutter, jojoba oil and dimethicone. methylisothiazolinone

Is Cholesterol that important?

To me, yes it is, although it differs from person to person, others may find protein more important that could be; this could be  because their hair is weaker without the protein treatment.

Think about it, how many of us exclude oils from our regimen?

So, to me, re-enforcing intense moisture is a must for me.

Do you give you hair a cholesterol treat?

Happy Hair journey ^_^!!!!

Tightly Curly Method Challenge Week 3 (13 Jan 2013-19 Jan 2013)

So this is my first day hair, totally see a huge difference  on my hair ends.

So basically this week was a week of “finger detangling” and “high curly puffs”

The finger detangling was dedicated to my YouTube sisters who joined the challenge and preferred to finger detangled in their TC methods.

I did my hair as early as possible and by 6.30a.m. my hair drama was finalized and had a fresh look for the day.

However, the puffs were not planned, I accidentally did a puff on my third day hair and my hair did not look as great as it would throughout the week.

I then, wore puffs more; it made me realize that I can actually do a lot of styles without so much damage to my coil definition. My roots didn’t stay defined I think by the 5th day I could tell that I really needed a puff to slick my roots.

So here comes the count down : )

My hair was not as neat, and I did not want it to tangle, it would be defeating the purpose of my TC method.

so i opt for puff to end the week.

I had a choice to style my hair as a curly-fro or to slick it in a puff….

I went for the puff, I couldn’t imagine dealing with tangles the next day.

and last but not least…

This is sunday morning (had to rush somewhere and my hair wasn’t done I only did my hair around 5p.m.), my hair would have been so much more thankful to be in a fro(too much tucking andf pulling all week), but….ain’t nobody got time for tangles on Sunday Afternoon! :D

Feedback:  My hair was so much easier to detangle, normally I struggle during “finger-detangling”. I always need silicone products in order not to cry like a baby but I felt as though my cuticles were more intact so i switched to a no-cone conditioner and made week 3 a breeze to detangle.

I am looking forward to my 4th week. Styles are definitely causing some awesome curly-fro’s which don’t seem to help in order to have a long lasting TC. I am definitely going to keep practicing in styling my coils with so much shrinkage.

Take care for now!!

Happy curly-fro Growing (:)

Tightly Curly Method Challenge Week 2 (6 Jan 2013-12 Jan 2013)

Freshly Shampooed after 3 months since the last…..And I used a light rinse out conditioner

The thick Conditioning “leave-in” process began :)

First day hair? Just the way I like it…tangle free :)

Because I had a curly puff on the 6th day, well, my 7th day was not as neat as the previous so I had to get creative.

*thinking cap*  ”Let me have a curly-fro for the day, yeah?”

LOOOOL I told you my hair loves being left ALONE!!! It looks so much shinier, healthier, and LESS tangles than the 7th day. I know what you are thinking, “but, Farah, your hair looks fine in the 7th pics, it’s the lightening of your camera!”

my reply: “no way!!frizzy-land is creeping in! Check my crown area in the 7th pic and check the second pic above, looks very similar to the last pic…my hair needs heavy touch ups or just redo my whole head of hair!”

I could only put it in the a curly-hawk, which looked OK, but my hair needs to be refreshed.

FEEDBACK of WEEK 2 : I LOVE TC METHOD!!!! well, for now, lets see next week?  :D

Tightly Curly Method Challenge_ WEEK 1 (29th Dec 2012 – 5th Jan 2013)

So I decided to show some pic’s and update you on how far I am with the challenge:

I did a couple of crazy things to my hair before calming down into TC-method

I first started off with a Cholesterol treatment; my hair felt stronger and thick, and I was ready for the challenge :D

First Day Hair…

super defined, no tangles….. no complain at the time (LOL)

This is all the pictures of the first week :D (from the 29/12/12)

All week, I used ELVIVE L’oréal,

It gave me shine and no flaking :)

First week, no complaints :)
My ends were sealed with conditioner most of the time.
However, I am trying to style my hair in this shrinkage stage
I look ridiculous most of the time but I can cope :) :)
Following detangling day (week 2) it was very easy to do because i didn’t have any tangling issues.
Happy and safe hair journey :D

How I Refresh My “Wash And Go” (option 2)

Hi Lovelies,

So as promised, my refreshing method :D

If you have any Question, please feel free to ask :D :D

Happy Curly Evening :D

Any hair plans for 2013? Simple hair Journey…Maybe?

So have you made any Healthy Hair plans for 2013?

you feeling like your hair isn’t growing? Were you using heat all time time? Half wigs or even sew-in all the time until your front hairs are too short to be true? combing your hair too much? loads of shedding? Are you always tempted to try any hairstyle even if its not meant for you hair characteristics?  Are you really caring for your hair like you should? Is it showing that you taking good care of it? Do you have heat damage? lots of split ends?

Be brutally honest with yourself in order to know what you should be changing.

Use this opportunity to better yourself and learn from your hair mistakes you did in the past 12 months, not forgetting all the good hair-techniques that did work for you and how you should carry it over to this year and make the change…or should I say? make the COMMITMENT to stick to simplicity…something that works,

Even if it didn’t work on the same day, as long as your hair is not in total misery, try to push it a little further than just a “once off routine”, its worth the patience, you know.

As for my ladies with the TWA? Use the TWA to explore, to learn and to find the right routine, and CHILL on the hair product abuse, its not going to runaway from the shops- no need to get 25 products for one head of coils, just focus on your technique!

Lets use these 11 months ahead to better our Healthy-Simplistic-Hair-Journey; remember ladies, too much done to our kinks coils and curls does not necessarily mean best results.

As for me, I will take you on a simple hair journey, to have, Glossy, thick, healthy hair!
Ill be doing different series of Healthy DIY treatment,TC method, simple hairstyles, regimens, rollersets, simple protective styling and so much more on hair topics :D

So what have you hair-planned so far?

PS- We can all reach the same hair goal, even if we are on a low budget, simple routines, or very little is done to our hair.

Don’t forget to drink lots of water and easy healthy meals to promote healthy hair

-Good Bye 2012
